# Add the chat to Squarespace

Paste one line into Code Injection’s Footer field, save, and check it on your live site.

To add an AI chatbot to Squarespace, paste Dazza’s one line of code into the **Footer** field of **Code Injection**, then save. Squarespace adds it just before `</body>` on every page. Code Injection is on the Core, Plus and Advanced plans, and some older plans.

## Before you start

- **Copy your line.** It’s in **Settings → Install** in Dazza, with your agent’s key already in it:

```
<script src="https://app.dazza.io/widget.js" data-agent="dz_…" async></script>
```

- **Publish your agent.** The chat button only appears once your agent has a published version.

## Paste it into Code Injection

1. In your Squarespace site, go to **Website → Pages**.
2. Scroll to the bottom, to **Utilities**, and click **Website Tools**.
3. Click **Code Injection**.
4. Paste your line into the **Footer** field. Use Footer, not Header, so the page loads first.
5. Click **Save**.

## Check it’s working

1. Open your live site in a new private window and refresh.
2. Look for the chat button in the bottom corner, and ask it a question.
3. In Dazza, **Settings → Install** shows **Installed** and the address the chat was last seen on.

The editor’s preview can have scripts turned off, so check on the live site rather than in the editor.

## Common problems

| What you see | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| No chat button anywhere | Publish your agent in **Agent**. Settings → Install says so if it isn’t live yet. |
| No Code Injection option | It needs a Core, Plus or Advanced plan, or an older plan that includes it. |
| No chat in the editor | The editor can disable scripts in preview. Check your live site in a private window. |
| No chat in checkout | Expected. Squarespace’s checkout doesn’t run custom code. |
| No chat on your squarespace.com address | If you’ve listed **Allowed websites** in Settings → Install, add that address as well as your own domain. Subdomains are included. |
| The code shows as text on a page | It went into a text block. Use Code Injection’s Footer field. |
| Nothing loads and the code looks odd | Some editors turn straight quotes into curly ones. Copy the line again from Settings → Install. |
