# Add and manage knowledge

Your website, help centre, single pages, questions and answers, pasted text, files, and Notion, Google Drive and Confluence, and how Dazza decides which source to trust.

*3 min read · Updated 27 Oct 2026 · 10 sections*

Dazza only answers from what you give it. Everything lives in **Knowledge**.

## Your website

**Import site** takes your web address or sitemap and reads the pages in it in the background, up to your plan’s page limit: 250 web pages on Starter, 1,000 on Growth (and in the free trial) and 5,000 on Scale. If you don’t have a sitemap, Dazza reads your homepage and the pages it links to. Q&As, pasted text and files don’t count towards the limit. See [Plans and billing](https://dazza.io/help/billing) for what happens to pages over the limit after a plan change.

Pages that don’t help customers, like baskets, checkouts, accounts and logins, are skipped.

To add one page on its own, use **Add page** with its address.

## Your help centre

On the **Help centre** tab, paste your help centre’s address. It works with Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Crisp, Help Scout, Document360 and any help site with a sitemap. Only articles under that address are imported, and new articles are added as they appear. See [Keep knowledge up to date](https://dazza.io/help/keep-knowledge-current).

Dazza also hosts a help centre for you. Articles you publish there are added to your knowledge automatically, as answers your business wrote. See [Your help centre](https://dazza.io/help/help-centre).

## Questions and answers

Add the answers your website doesn’t have, a few at a time. Write them the way you’d say them to a customer.

## Pasted text

Give it a title and paste the text. Good for policies, price lists and anything that lives in a document rather than on your site.

## Files

Upload PDF, Word (`.docx`), plain text, Markdown, CSV or HTML files, up to 4 MB each.

## Notion, Google Drive and Confluence

If your team writes its answers in Notion, Google Docs or Confluence, connect them on the **Connected** tab (or **Connect a workspace** where you add knowledge). You choose the pages, databases, folders or spaces Dazza reads, and it keeps them in sync as they’re edited. See [Connect Notion](https://dazza.io/help/notion), [Connect Google Drive](https://dazza.io/help/google-drive) and [Connect Confluence](https://dazza.io/help/confluence).

A Google Doc shared with anyone with the link can also be added by its link, without connecting Drive.

## Which source wins

Anything you write in Dazza, a Q&A, pasted text or a [correction](https://dazza.io/help/corrections), counts as your own word and is treated as current. So do pages from Notion, Google Drive and Confluence: you chose them, your team wrote them, and Dazza keeps them in step with their edits. When one disagrees with a web page or an uploaded file, Dazza uses yours, cites it and leaves the other figure out.

## Keeping it fresh

Dazza re-reads your web pages and checks for new ones on its own, weekly unless you change it. Set how often under **Keep up to date**, or press **Refresh everything now**. See [Keep knowledge up to date](https://dazza.io/help/keep-knowledge-current).

When a single page on your site changes, you can also **read it again** from its row in Knowledge. To take something out, remove it: Dazza stops using it straight away.

## Test a question

**Test a question** shows the passages Dazza would answer from. If nothing matches, it would offer a person instead, which tells you what to add.

## Sources in answers

Each answer cites the sources it used. In chat, citations link to the page, or to the original in Notion, Google Drive or Confluence; in email, Dazza writes the address in full when a page would help.
