# Connect SMS with Twilio

Connect a Twilio phone number, so Dazza answers text messages as your business.

*1 min read · Updated 27 Oct 2026 · 6 sections*

Dazza answers text messages through your own Twilio number. Only admins can connect it.

## What you’ll need

- **Account SID**
- **Auth token**
- **Twilio phone number**, with its country code, for example `+447700900123`

## Connect it

1. In the Twilio Console, copy your Account SID and auth token.
2. Under Phone Numbers → Active numbers, choose a number that can send and receive SMS.
3. In Dazza, open **Channels**, choose SMS and paste the three details.

Dazza checks them with Twilio and points the number’s incoming messages at itself.

## If the number is in a Messaging Service

If the number belongs to a Twilio Messaging Service, set the service’s incoming messages to *Defer to sender’s webhook*, so they reach Dazza.

## Keywords

Keywords such as STOP, HELP and START are stored in the conversation but never answered.

## Calls to the same number

If the number takes calls too, Dazza can answer them. See [Answer phone calls](https://dazza.io/help/phone-calls).

## More

See [Connect your messaging apps](https://dazza.io/help/messaging-channels) for how Dazza answers, replying from the inbox and delivery receipts.
