Connect Notion
Let Dazza answer from your Notion pages and databases, kept in sync as your team edits them.
If your team keeps its real answers in Notion, Dazza can learn from them. You choose the pages and databases it reads, and Dazza keeps them in sync as they change.
Connecting apps is on the Growth plan and above.
Create a connection in Notion
Notion calls this an internal connection. You need to be a workspace owner.
- Open Notion’s Developer portal at
app.notion.com/developers/connectionsand choose Internal connections → Create a new connection. - Call it “Dazza” and choose your workspace.
- On the Configuration tab, leave only Read content ticked. Dazza never changes anything in Notion.
- Copy the API token.
Connect it in Dazza
In Knowledge, open Connected and paste the token under Notion. Dazza checks it with Notion straight away. The token is encrypted and never shown again.
Share pages with the connection
A new connection can’t see anything until you share pages with it. Either:
- in the Developer portal, open the connection’s Content access tab and choose Edit access; or
- in Notion, open a page’s ••• menu → Connections → Add connection, and choose Dazza.
Sharing a page shares its sub-pages too.
Choose what Dazza reads
Dazza lists everything shared with the connection. Pick:
- Pages. The page and every page under it.
- Databases. Every row, each as its own page. A row starts with its properties, such as “Category: Shipping”, so FAQ databases work well.
- Everything shared. Anything shared with the connection, now or later.
Then press Import. Pages are read in the background and show as ready in Sources, with a Notion badge.
What Dazza keeps
Headings, paragraphs, bulleted, numbered and to-do lists, tables, toggles, callouts, quotes, code, columns and synced blocks are kept. A toggle becomes a heading with its contents, so a page of toggle FAQs gives Dazza one answer per question. Images, files and embeds keep only their captions.
Keeping it in sync
Dazza checks Notion on your Keep up to date schedule, or when you press Sync now. Only pages edited since the last check are read again, and they keep answering while they are.
- A new page under something you picked is added.
- A page you delete, move to the trash or stop sharing stops being used.
- If you remove a page in Sources, it stays out until you pick it again.
Citations
Answers cite the Notion page. If the page is shared to the web, the citation opens its public address, so customers can follow it. Otherwise only people in your workspace can open it.
Which source wins
Notion pages count as your own words, like Q&As and pasted text. When one disagrees with your website, Dazza uses the Notion page. Only connect pages a customer may be told about, and leave internal-only pages out.
If something goes wrong
- Notion didn’t accept the API token. It may have been refreshed or the connection deleted. Copy the token again from the Configuration tab and paste it under Notion. Pages already read keep answering until it’s fixed.
- Nothing is listed. Nothing is shared with the connection yet. Share a page, then choose Look again.
- A page couldn’t be read. The reason is shown on the Notion card. An empty page has nothing to read.
